Honey

Honey Daniels (Jessica Alba) is a struggling hiphop dancer who’s got all the moves, talent and relentless passion to succeed. She’s been waiting all her life to show the world her dance moves and now her dream is just a step away. Inspired by the energy and music and awesome dance moves ignite this exhilarating story of passion, determination and finding the courage to follow your dreams. Also starring Mekhi Phifer (8 Mile) and featuring hiphop sensations Missy Elliot and Lil’ Romeo.
My take: Get groovin', chillin', swayin' and movin' to hiphop-sexy bods-clubbin'-dreadlocks-bellybaring tees-nyc-thang! Friendship. Love. Career. Drugs. Kids. Dancing for a cause. It's all here...almost.

Chances Are

From "Dirty Dancing" director Emile Ardolino comes this heartwarming comedy that gives romance an unforgettable second chance...
Cybill Shepherd, Robert Downey Jr., Ryan O’Neal and Mary Stuart Masterson discover that life and love in the hereafter can present quite a predicament in Chances Are, the irresistible romantic comedy of two lifetimes. Cybill stars as Corinne Jeffries, a beautiful young woman whose picture-perfect marriage comes to a shattering halt when her husband Louie dies unexpectedly. Fortunately, Louie gets a second shot at life when he agrees to be “recycled” back to earth as the newborn Alex Finch (Robert Downey Jr). But fate crosses Alex’s path 23 years later when he meets Corinne’s daughter Miranda (Mary Stuart Masterson), and is suddenly flooded with a wealth of memories that all belong to Louie! Now, as Alex’s former existence slowly comes to life – he must confront a wife who thinks he’s dead, a daughter who could be his girlfriend and a best friend (Ryan O’Neal) who’s in love with Corinne.

The Notebook

Behind every great love, is a great story...
A young woman comes to the coastal town of Seabrook, North Carolina in the 1940s to spend the summer with her family. Still in her teens, Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) meets local boy Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) at a Carnival. On the spot, Noah senses that he and Allie are meant to be together. Though she is a wealthy debutante and he a mill worker, over the course of one passionate and carefree summer in the South, the two fall deeply in love.

Circumstances and the sudden outbreak of World War II – drive them apart, but both continue to be haunted by memories of each other. When Noah returns home from the war years later, Allie is irrevocably gone from his life, but not from his heart.Though Noah doesn’t yet know it, Allie has come back to Seabrook, where they first fell in love. But now Allie is engaged to marry Lon (James Marsden), a wealthy soldier she met while volunteering in a GI hospital.

Decades later, a man (James Garner) reads from a faded notebook to a woman (Gena Rowlands) he regularly visits at her nursing home. Though her memory has faded, she becomes caught up in the fiery story of Allie and Noah – and for a few moments, she is able to relive the passionate, turbulent time when they swore they’d be together always.

The Lake House

How do you hold on to someone you've never met?
Feeling that it’s time for a change in her life, Dr. Kate Forster (SANDRA BULLOCK) leaves the suburban Illinois locale where she completed her residency and takes a job at a busy Chicago hospital. One thing she is reluctant to leave behind is the uniquely beautiful house she’s been renting – a spacious and artfully designed refuge with large windows that overlook a placid lake. It’s a place in which she felt her true self.
It is a winter morning in 2006.
On her way to the city, Kate leaves a note in the mailbox for house’s next tenant, asking him to forward her mail and noting that the inexplicable painted paw prints he might notice by the front door were there when she moved in.
But when the next tenant arrives, he sees a much different picture.
Alex Wyler (KEANU REEVES), a talented but frustrated architect working at a nearby construction site, finds the lake house badly neglected: dusty, dirty and overgrown with weeds. And no sign of paw prints anywhere. The house has special meaning for Alex. In a happier time it was built by his estranged father (CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER), a renowned architect who allowed his professional acclaim to grow at the expense of his family life. Alex feels a sense of peace here now and commits to restoring the property to its original beauty.
He disregards Kate’s note until, days later, while painting the weather-beaten jetty he sees a stray dog run across the fresh paint and then towards the entrance of the house, leaving paw prints exactly where she said they’d be.
Baffled, Alex writes back, saying that the house had no occupant before him and wondering how she could have known about the dog; while Kate, who just left it a week ago, imagines he is playing some kind of joke on her and fires back a reply.
Just for argument’s sake, what day is it there?
April 14, 2004.
No, she says. It’s April 14, 2006.
The same day, two years apart.
Can this be happening?
As Kate and Alex continue to correspond through the lake house’s mailbox they confirm that they are, incredibly, impossibly, living two years apart, and each at a time in their lives when they are struggling with past disappointments and trying to make a new start. Sharing this unusual bond, they reveal more of themselves to one another with each passing week – their secrets, their doubts and dreams, until they find themselves falling in love.
Determined to bridge the distance between them at last and unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary connection, they tempt fate by arranging to meet. But, by trying to join their two separate worlds, they could risk losing each other forever...
(from www.movieweb.com)

My take: The movie has the undertones of Kate and Leopold, Serendipity, If Only, among others. Where finding true love is indeed a search that could transcend time and other barriers. The movies mentioned may be fictional, Hollywood hype and impossible even - but there are also cerebral moments, lots of romantic nuances, whimsy/silly/sappy/cute dialogue, cinematic effects and production values.
The Lake House is the reunion movie of Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves 12 years after Speed. What happens when a guy makes a reservation for a dinner date on Valentines two years before it's meant to happen (or did the date even happen?). Wasn't Alex the guy Kate met on her birthday when she was just a resident? Hmmm...
Go ahead and watch it, you'll get to know if they end up together or not.

I Need Love

More lyrics for this post!!!

Title: I Need Love
Artist: Laura Pausini

I'd cross the desert to be where you are
All the things I'd do to be close to you
A million miles wouldn't seem that far
I'd go anywhere just to win your heart

But wherever this leads
There's something I need

Chorus:
I need love
The kind that makes you wanna live
The kind that makes you wanna breathe
The kind that makes you feel too much
And I need you
To help me find a better way
And I guess you never thought you'd hear me say
I need love
I need love

And when I see you
I just lose my mind
You're the everything I thought I'd never find
Must be an angel watching over me
With a little luck we're gonna make you mine
'Cause I wanna believe (I want to believe)
In all we can be (all we can be)

Repeat Chorus

And oh, I will catch you when you fall

Be the greatest love of all
I promise to be
If you give me what I need, I need

I need love
I need you
The kind that makes you feel
The one that makes you wanna live
The one that makes you wanna breathe

And I need you
To help me find a better way
And I guess you never thought you'd hear me say
I need love
I need love
I need love, baby
I need love

I'd cross the desert
I'd cross the desert to be where you are

Stay

Title: Stay
Artist: Cueshe'
Album: Half Empty Half Full

I believe
We shouldn’t let the moment pass us by
Life’s too short
We shouldn’t wait for the water to run dry

Think about it
Cause we only have one shot at destiny
All I’m asking
Could it possibly be you & me?

So if you’d still go, I’ll understand
Would you give me something just to hold on to?
And if you’ll stay, I’ll hold your hand
Cause I’m truly, madly, crazily in love with you

Time has come
For us to go, our separate ways
God forbid
But my mind is going crazy today

I feel so cold
Feel so numb
I’m having nightmares but I’m awake
Help me Lord
Fight this loneliness
Take this pain away

Now that you’re gone, I’m all alone
I’m still hoping that you would come back home
Don’t care how long, but I’m willing to wait
Cause I’m truly, madly, crazily in love with you
